Complete guide to setting up and using FOMO Notifications

Getting Started

Step 1: Install the App

  1. Go to the Shopify App Store and search for "FOMO Notifications"
  2. Click "Add app" or "Install"
  3. Review the permissions and click "Install app"
  4. You'll be redirected to your app dashboard

Step 2: Access Your Dashboard

After installation, you can access FOMO Notifications from:

  • Shopify Admin → Apps → FOMO Notifications
  • Or directly from the app dashboard URL

Dashboard Overview

Your dashboard is the central hub for managing all notification settings.

Main Sections:

  1. Current Plan Card - Shows your subscription status (FREE or PRO)
  2. Welcome Section - App status and quick overview
  3. Notification Types - Configure each notification type
  4. Your Plan - Features available in your plan
  5. App Information - Version and status

Notification Types

1. Recent Purchase Notifications

Shows pop-up notifications when customers make purchases (e.g., "John purchased Product X 2 minutes ago").

2. Live Visitor Counter

Settings Configuration

Accessing Settings

  1. From your dashboard, click "Settings" in the left sidebar
  2. Or navigate to Apps → FOMO Notifications → Settings

Saving Settings

  1. After making changes, scroll to the top
  2. Click the "Save Settings" button
  3. Wait for the green success banner: "Settings saved successfully!"
  4. Changes are applied immediately

Adding Notifications to Your Theme

Step 1: Enable App Embeds

  1. Go to Shopify Admin → Online Store → Customize
  2. In the left sidebar, scroll down to "App embeds" section
  3. Find "FOMO Notifications" and toggle it ON
  4. Also enable:
    • "Live Visitor Count (Auto)"
    • "Sales Counter (Auto)"
  5. Click "Save" in the top right

Step 2: Verify on Product Pages

  1. While in theme customizer, navigate to a Product page
  2. You should see the notification widgets appear
  3. Click "Save" to apply changes

Troubleshooting

Notifications Not Showing

Solutions:

  1. ✅ Check App Embeds are Enabled
    • Go to Online Store → Customize → App embeds
    • Ensure all FOMO Notifications toggles are ON
  2. ✅ Clear Browser Cache
    • Press Ctrl + Shift + R (Windows) or Cmd + Shift + R (Mac)
  3. ✅ Verify Settings are Saved
    • Go to Settings and ensure notifications are enabled
    • Click "Save Settings" again
